Festival Overview
Córdoba is a city built around shade: whitewashed lanes, thick walls, tiled thresholds, fountains, and courtyards designed to make intense Andalusian heat livable. During the Patios Festival, residents open those private interiors to the public, revealing cascades of geraniums, carnations, jasmine, citrus, ceramics, wells, and family architecture normally hidden behind street doors. The experience is intimate by definition. Visitors queue in Alcázar Viejo, Santa Marina, San Lorenzo, and other historic neighborhoods, then step from bright stone into cool domestic space where every pot and painted wall reflects months of care. Guitar, conversation, and the sound of water deepen the atmosphere, but the courtyards themselves remain the event. This is not a flower display installed for tourism; it is a living tradition of shared houses, neighborly competition, adaptation, and pride. Córdoba becomes most memorable through what it usually keeps inside.
