Festival Overview
A lemon reaches Amalfi’s streets clean, bright and cool beneath the fingers.
Nothing about it reveals the climb.
It does not show the stone terraces cut into steep hillsides, the chestnut poles supporting protective coverings or the narrow paths along which growers move between trees. It carries no record of the hands that picked it or the journey downhill toward kitchens, pastry cases and bottles.
Sagra del Limone della Costiera is a local celebration of the Amalfi Coast lemon and the agricultural culture that produces it. Tastings, regional dishes, sweets, drinks and encounters with growers and producers bring the pale-yellow **Limone Costa d’Amalfi IGP**, commonly associated with the Sfusato Amalfitano variety, into the historic center of Amalfi.
The event is compact rather than monumental. Its value comes from allowing travelers to connect flavors encountered throughout the coast with the difficult landscape above them.
The lemon tastes effortless.
The land that produces it is not.
