Festival Overview
Abergavenny Food Festival turns a Welsh market town into a walkable conversation among farmers, growers, cheesemakers, bakers, cooks, writers, campaigners, and hungry visitors. Market halls, streets, castle grounds, schools, and temporary stages allow food to remain attached to place.
The narrative is trust rebuilt through encounter. Founded by local farmers after the BSE crisis damaged confidence in British produce, the festival still gains authority when the person growing, making, cooking, or questioning food can speak directly to the person eating it.
Pleasure and argument belong together here. Tastings lead toward land use, animal welfare, labor, climate, affordability, and the future of Welsh rural communities.
