Festival Overview
At the end of the Florida Keys, Key West has always made room for eccentricity. Fantasy Fest amplifies that instinct until Old Town becomes an elaborate exercise in costume, satire, nightlife, and public performance.
Duval Street provides the main current, but the energy gathers across side streets, historic porches, bars, galleries, guesthouses, and the waterfront before concentrating after dark. Body paint and extravagant handmade outfits receive as much attention as organized events, and spectators soon become part of the visual field.
The festival has an adult, uninhibited character that can surprise anyone expecting a conventional parade weekend. Its strongest appeal is the setting: a compact island city with a long tradition of reinvention turns its streets into a collective masquerade.
