Bring room in the budget for snacks, drinks, and small vendor purchases rather than major ticket add-ons.

Treat the hills as part of the day. Park before you reach the tightest downtown blocks, then walk into the Basin Spring Park area and Main Street with enough time to wander instead of rushing from one set to the next. If you want a calmer first hour, get in by late morning before the afternoon crowd thickens. A light layer and a small umbrella help in late-September weather, and shoes with grip matter more here than festival fashion because the sidewalks and grades can wear you out faster than the music schedule.
