Festival Overview
The Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival is built around one extraordinary setting: Aspendos Theatre, the ancient Roman amphitheatre east of Antalya in the Serik district. Rather than moving between venues, visitors make one deliberate journey from Antalya city center, nearby coastal resorts, or the surrounding region to spend an evening watching opera or ballet inside a monumental open-air theatre.
The experience feels focused and ceremonial from the beginning. Audiences arrive while daylight still touches the ancient stone, find their seats along the steep amphitheatre rows, and watch the venue transform as sunset gives way to stage lighting and the performance takes control of the night. The theatre is not simply a backdrop. It is the defining reason the festival feels unlike a performance inside a modern hall.
