Festival Overview
Cowes Week transforms the northern coastline of the Isle of Wight into one of the world’s most famous sailing gatherings, where competitive yacht racing, waterfront spectatorship, maritime tradition, and social events combine into a destination-wide experience. For more than a century, sailors, crews, spectators, and visitors have converged on Cowes to watch hundreds of boats compete across the Solent while the town itself becomes a hub of activity from morning until late at night. Unlike many sporting events confined to a stadium or venue, Cowes Week unfolds across marinas, harbors, waterfront promenades, yacht clubs, pubs, and viewing points, making the entire town feel connected to the racing taking place offshore.
