Festival Overview
Día de los Boyeros in San Antonio de Escazú is a heritage celebration built around Costa Rica’s oxcart tradition, with decorated carretas, drivers in traditional dress, and a blessing that ties the day to the parish church as much as to the parade itself. The heart of it is the Desfile de boyeros y carretas: painted traditional carretas rolling through the town center behind oxen, with families lining the streets and the strongest energy gathering around the church and plaza before the procession spreads outward.
