Festival Overview
Copenhagen is ordinarily a city of bicycles, harbor swimming, restrained design, and neighborhoods whose pleasures unfold at street level. Distortion takes that urban fabric and turns it outward, moving electronic music, sound systems, food, bars, and enormous crowds through streets and purpose-built nightlife spaces.
The festival’s identity comes from contrast: orderly daily life gives way to temporary disorder, while residents’ courtyards and familiar blocks become part of a citywide celebration. Daytime street activity feels communal and exposed; later events concentrate the music into controlled venues with a stronger club focus.
The result is not a conventional festival transplanted into the capital. It is an encounter with Copenhagen’s neighborhood culture, cycling geography, and appetite for collective summer release.
