If you want photos and costume watching without the tightest crush, spend more time in Old Town during the day and early evening, then decide how deep into the late-night scene you actually want to go. Wear something you can stand in for hours, keep only what you need on you, and carry water since the daytime heat can sneak up on you before the drinking even starts.
