Festival Overview
A resident stands on a ladder above the same doorway used for groceries and work during the rest of the year. Cardboard, fabric and wire close the open sky into another world. Someone below passes up a missing piece. By morning, the ordinary street will look impossible, yet every part of it has been built by neighbors.
Festa Major de Gràcia fills narrow streets and plazas with decorations, music, meals and community activity. Visitors often first see the visual transformation. The deeper experience is neighborhood ownership. Public space becomes a shared home made by hand, and every traveler decision must respect the fact that people still live behind the doors beneath the decorations.
