Festival Overview
At first there is one costume on the train, carefully arranged so a painted shoulder does not strike the door. A few stops later, another appears across the carriage. By the time the crowd reaches the Royal Docks, wigs, armor and embroidered coats have changed the journey. MCM Comic Con London begins before ExCeL because the route itself teaches visitors that they are no longer traveling alone.
Inside, celebrity programs, independent art, anime, games, books, role play and cosplay stretch through a vast linear venue. The abundance matters, but the event’s deeper pleasure comes from watching personal enthusiasm become socially safe in public. A traveler who plans only for attractions misses half the experience. The convention is also made from platform conversations, repair advice, fan meetups and the quiet relief of entering a place where explanation is rarely required.
