Festival Overview
The lowest frequency arrives before the melody.
It moves through the ground, reaches the body and makes the approaching stage audible before it can be seen. Beyond the trees, the Adriatic remains almost still.
Outlook Origins is a multi-day bass-music and sound-system festival held at The Garden Resort in Tisno, Croatia. Its programme moves through jungle, dubstep, grime, dub, leftfield bass and related sounds across daytime beach sessions, nighttime stages and small boat parties on the Adriatic.
The festival emerged from the longer history of Outlook Festival, which began bringing international sound-system communities together in Croatia in 2008. Outlook Origins was created to return attention to the artists, labels, parties and genres that helped drive those scenes forward.
“Origins” does not ask the music to remain in the past. It asks listeners to recognize the routes by which it arrived: sound systems, pirate radio, clubs, record shops, producers, selectors, MCs and communities building their own spaces when larger institutions were not listening.
Tisno gives that history another environment. Music shaped inside dense urban rooms enters open Croatian air. Bass travels beside pine trees and water. A boat leaves the jetty with one small audience, one sound system and nowhere else the schedule requires them to be.
The rooms have changed.
The lineage remains audible.
