Festival Overview
A producer places a small piece of cheese on the counter.
The visitor tastes it and waits for another. Instead, the producer begins describing the pasture: its elevation, the animals that graze there, the plants that appear during different months and the weather that changed this particular season.
The flavor has already left the plate.
Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is an international food gathering organized by Slow Food with the City of Turin and the Piedmont region. Farmers, fishers, livestock keepers, cooks, food artisans, educators and activists come together through markets, workshops, tastings, meals and public conversations.
The event usually returns to Turin on a biennial rhythm, but its physical layout can change. Public spaces, cultural buildings, restaurants and other venues across the city may all participate. Travelers should confirm the current map and programme rather than expecting a permanent exhibition site.
There will be an extraordinary amount to eat.
The people who kept that food possible are the reason to come.
