Festival Overview
Baisakhi in Amritsar gathers around prayer rather than performance, and the day takes its shape from the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) complex. Before and after sunrise, pilgrims stream toward the shrine, the parikrama and sarovar edge fill with worshippers, and the surrounding lanes carry a steady mix of families, out-of-town visitors, and sevadars. What stays with you is the scale of shared devotion: ritual bathing, kirtan, langar, and long patient hours spent inside one of Sikhism’s most important sacred spaces.
