Festival Overview
Pasola in Wanokaka is not a stage show dropped into town for visitors. It is a seasonal Sumbanese ritual gathering centered on the open field where horsemen face off with wooden spears, with nearby villages feeding people, riders, and ceremonial groups into the day. What stays with you is the mix of tension and ceremony: riders in traditional Sumbanese dress and textiles, elders and community groups gathering before the action, horses cutting across the plain, and families watching from the edges while stall areas fill with smoke from grilled food and coffee.
