Festival Overview
Semana Santa in Seville unfolds through brotherhood processions that leave neighborhood churches, enter the historic center, pass the Seville Cathedral surroundings and the Carrera Oficial, then make the long return home. What stays with people is not one single parade but the whole devotional texture of the week: costaleros carrying pasos with extraordinary sculpture, penitents in long lines with candles, bands and drumlines turning a corner, incense hanging in narrow streets, and sudden silence when a saeta rises from a balcony.
