Festival Overview
Edinburgh’s ridges, closes, Georgian squares, and volcanic skyline already make movement between rooms feel theatrical. The Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival adds brass bands, swing, blues guitar, traditional jazz, contemporary improvisation, and international artists to that layered city, often just as summer’s larger cultural season begins.
Concert halls, theaters, clubs, and temporary spaces across the Old and New Towns replace a single enclosure. Daytime performances can be attentive and intimate; later sets bring hotter rooms, dancing, and after-hours sociability.
Edinburgh shapes every transition: a climb up stone streets, a glimpse of the castle, then a change from formal listening to a close blues set within a few blocks.
