Festival Overview
Copenhagen's film culture sits naturally inside a city of bicycles, harbor architecture, design institutions, intimate cinemas, and public debate. CPH:DOX uses that setting to turn documentary into a citywide conversation rather than a sealed industry event.
Kunsthal Charlottenborg has served as a festival hub near Nyhavn, while screenings, installations, talks, concerts, and filmmaker encounters extend through cinemas and cultural spaces across the capital. The program ranges from investigative journalism and political cinema to art, science, music, ecology, and formally experimental nonfiction.
Audiences move between waterfront walks, café discussions, and dark rooms where urgent global questions become personal. That permeability gives the festival its identity: documentary is not merely watched but argued over within everyday urban life.
