Festival Overview
Floriade begins as a field of color and becomes a lesson in gathering. Commonwealth Park fills with tulips and carefully designed beds, but the most revealing scenes occur at human scale: someone kneels to study a planting combination, a grower answers a practical question, food aromas cross a path, and strangers compare what they have noticed.
Garden design, grower knowledge, seasonal food and shared public space give that social instinct depth. Flowers are not separated from cultivation or community; they become another way to think about season, care and what a city chooses to enjoy together.
Canberra strengthens the idea. The park opens toward Lake Burley Griffin, civic landmarks sit beyond the trees, and walking or cycling can carry the spring mood into the wider capital. The best visit does not race to photograph every bed. It looks closely, learns something usable and leaves noticing the season beyond the gate.
