Festival Overview
Houston is a vast Gulf Coast city of freeways, energy towers, bayous, immigrant neighborhoods, and a culture that understands the scale of livestock, sport, music, and food. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo takes over NRG Park with cattle, horses, youth competitions, agricultural education, carnival rides, barbecue, shopping, rodeo events, and stadium concerts.
It is far more than a nightly performance. Barn aisles and judging rings explain the labor behind animal agriculture; scholarships and youth programs reveal the civic mission; the rodeo combines technical skill with genuine risk.
Afterward, a major artist performs on a rotating stadium stage before one of the country’s largest mixed audiences. The experience is distinctly Texan because commerce, education, spectacle, and philanthropy remain inseparable.
