Festival Overview
Munich’s Oktoberfest lives on the Theresienwiese festival grounds, but it spills into the city through parades, Tracht, brass bands, and the ritual of choosing a tent with its own mood. One hall is louder, another more traditional, another prized for its beer or food, and that choice shapes the day as much as the drinking. The scale is huge, yet the details stay distinctly Bavarian: the Schottenhamel opening ceremony with the first keg tapping, waiters carrying impossible loads of Maß, families heading for Oide Wiesn, and locals treating the Wiesn as part celebration, part annual custom.
