Festival Overview
Barcelona turns La Mercè into a lived-in civic festival rather than a single-site event. In the same day you can watch castellers rise in Plaça Sant Jaume, catch gegants and bestiari moving through the Gothic Quarter streets, drift through daytime programming around Parc de la Ciutadella, and end the night in the beach and Fòrum concert zones. The whole thing feels proudly Catalan and deeply local, with neighborhood groups, family outings, brass bands, drummers, and late-night crowds all sharing the same city.
