On the eve of the main weekend, the old city is already crowded, with route preparations and heavy devotional traffic around Magellan's Cross.
Main festival day begins early with religious observances, then shifts into street dancing, drumlines, and long stretches of waiting as people hold places along Osmeña Boulevard or move toward the Cebu City Sports Center for the grand performances. After dark, the formal program eases off slowly, but transport lines, food streets, and pickup spots stay busy well into the evening.
Expect days of worship and preparation, immense processions, street dance, drums, costume, vendors, heat, security controls, and extreme crowd density. Sacred and commercial spaces overlap without becoming interchangeable.
