This South Korea cultural itinerary connects three major festivals, each offering a different form of storytelling and performance. Begin at the Andong Mask Dance Festival, where traditional dances combine folklore, satire, music and ritual. The extended stay also provides time to visit the UNESCO-listed Hahoe Folk Village and explore the region’s Confucian heritage, local cuisine and rural landscapes.
Continue south to Jinju for the Namgang Yudeung Festival. After dark, lantern installations illuminate the Namgang River, historic fortress and surrounding streets. Cultural performances, riverside food stalls and evening displays make Jinju a striking contrast to Andong’s village traditions.
